Ella Goes to the Doctor

Last week, Ella went to Dr. Wang for her 2 year old shots. (Yes, she is almost 2 years and 4 months, but due to being sick so often she had to wait until now). She received one shot and one finger prick to test her iron, and guess what? My BIG, BRAVE girl DIDN'T CRY. She expressed that she was scared of the shot, but I held her in my arms, told her to close her eyes and think of something happy (just like the episode of Daniel Tiger when he gets a shot) and she did just that. NO TEARS!!! So, after that, I told her she could have any treat she wanted. Ella then said she wanted "birthday cake." Not cake mind you, but birthday cake. I asked Dr. Wang if he knew where I could get some cake close by, and he asked Ella if ice cream would do instead. Ella nodded her head yes, so he disappeared for a moment and then came back with a chocolate swirl drum stick. YUM! We wandered outside, sat on a bench in the sun, and Ella happily ate the whole thing (giving 1 bite to mommy). The whole time I raved and raved about what a big, brave girl she is and how proud I am of her. Every time I would say such things Ella would respond with, "Thank you, mama." It was soooo cute!

We also found out that Ella's iron is good and she weighs 30 lbs. and is 36 inches tall. According to Dr. Wang, this means that she is tall and slim. She is in the 90th percentile for height and 50th percentile for weight.

Way to go, Ella!!!!!!!!
