Santa Cruz

For Labor Day weekend this year, the Malecutts took a mini vacation to our favorite spot in California--Santa Cruz!

Although we did not make it to the beach for several reasons (a huge disappointment for Mama C), we did frequent the Boardwalk and Pizza My Heart.

Ella went on the following rides:
1. Cave train
-We're not sure how she felt about this one. Ella was quiet with eyes wide open. She talked a lot about it, saying "choo choo train" but said "all done" after her second trip on it.

2. Pepsi Convoy Truck
-Ella's a big fan! She said "moe moe" after riding it twice.

3. Sea Serpent
-We're not sure on this one either. Ella was quiet again. The up and down made Mama feel dizzy and gave her a headache. We didn't go on it again.

4. The Carousel
-Mama was super excited about the Carousel.  Four generations of my family have went on this particular ride, starting with my great grandma, Maria. Ella represents the 5th generation. As you can imagine, it was very moving to see my daughter riding it with her daddy, and again with me. However, Ella didn't appreciate the magnitude of the moment. In fact, when the horse daddy put her on started to move up and down, she began to cry, so they stopped the ride. Everyone had to get off...because of Ella. Sorry folks.
-Mama tries again...and is successful! This time, I sat with Ella on one of the benches they have and she enjoyed herself. After the ride (it wasn't cut short this time), Ella was given a ring to throw in the clown's mouth. It was a lot of fun!

Before the crying starts.

Second time's a charm!

Capitola

On our first night there, Capitola had a Begonia festival with live music and dancing, and lots of fun (with a beautiful moon to boot). The seagulls here are very aggressive, so we taught Ella how to say, "No birdie, no pizza." She became rather obsessed with shooing the birds away, and didn't eat as much as we hoped she would. She had a good time dancing to the beats though!

We LOVE Pizza My Heart!

We still really need to get her to a beach and in the sand and water. This is a MUST next summer.

All in all, it was a good trip. No broken appendages and no appendectomies. Our room smelled like cat pee though...:(

Dada made the shot!

He won Ella a small basketball!
